What are they?
We can investigate public administration by our “own motion”. This means we don’t need to receive a complaint or notification first. We can decide to look at the matter.
We usually do this when we see a problem that affects many people or is very serious. Our goal is for these major reviews and investigations to address systemic issues and result in real improvements in the way agencies operate, particularly where such improvements may prevent harm or save lives.
What we do
- Choose important topics in the public interest
- Gather and analyse information
- Publish findings and recommendations
