During March we were out around the state talking with a range of organisations, businesses and community members about how independent ombudsman services can help when issues escalate with a government agency, or energy or water provider.

Ombudsman WA’s work was recognised at the Institute of Public Administration Australia WA (IPAA WA) W.S. Lonnie Awards for public reporting, winning the Alan Skinner Trophy and the Bronze Award in the General Government Sector of Agencies with under 100 FTE’s.

The Ombudsman tabled 'A Review of Family and Domestic Violence in Western Australia' in Parliament on 19 March 2026. The review examined how government agencies respond after police attend family and domestic violence incidents.

The Unlawful Consorting and Prohibited Insignia scheme helps WA Police disrupt criminal organizations such as outlaw motorcycle gangs, and we check to ensure the use of police powers is lawful.

The team from Ombudsman WA will be heading down to the South West to talk with agencies, organisations and community members between 18 and 21 November.

On 30 April 2025, the Ombudsman’s report, Western Australia’s Reportable Conduct Scheme: A review of systems to protect children was tabled in Parliament.
